WINES

The Bourdy Domaine was started in Arlay in 1475 and since then, 16 generations of Bourdy have been maintaining the ultra-traditional wines of Arlay. These wines, as you'll see, are mostly oxidative and are the purest, most elegant examples of this style we have come across. The red is incredibly gastronomic and the crémant is a fresh and pure Blanc de Blancs. All wines are certified biodynamic or organic and are vegan.

The wines show off a side of Jura that has almost been forgotten - wines that demand time. Luckily, the family have done the work for you and have kept an incredible stock of old vintages going back to the early 20th century. The estate is 10 hectares spread over vineyards around Arlay with 0.5 hectares in Château-Chalon and everything has been certified biodynamic since 2010. They keep things very simple in the cellar with co-fermentation for the reds, direct press for the whites and then long ageing for both - if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Laura, daughter of Jean, and now in charge of the Domaine has started experimenting with a more modern style of wine with her cuvées named after important women in her life. Grippy, nutty Jeanne is a skin contact Chardonnay and Suzanne, a deep yet fragranced Rosé from the three red grapes of the Jura.
