WINES

Shot into stardom in 2021 by Klaus Peter Keller, Louis has now reached a level of international demand that far far outstrips supply. Louis has been farming a tiny plot in Aluze since 2014 when he took over the reigns of production from his uncle Philippe Pinto. The vineyard is set just outside the appellation of Mercurey and is a very cool site, giving a Pinot full of tension, vivacity, and incredible sapidity.

Louis' farming is all biodynamic (uncertified) from his 0.197 hectare plot. Whole bunch fermentations take place in small tanks with little remontage by hand for a delicate extraction. Then a gentle pressing into barrels where the wine stays for at least two years before it is bottled by hand - everything is done by gravity with not a pump in sight.

Louis’ wines are an incredible insight to the next generation of Burgundy. Living, joyous wines that are true to their time, place, and winemaker. As is typical of great Burgundy in our unfortunate epoch - there’s just not enough of it. Please do send us an email if you are interested and we will add you to the waiting list for our next shipment. His micro négoce is starting to take shape so we are eagerly looking forward to new wines from new vineyards from the 2023 vintage.
